It lies at an elevation of 4,500 meters in Uttarkashi district, and towards Asia’s second largest glacier, this trek is peaceful, amazing, and adventure all at once. Without crossing the Gangotri glacier no one cannot reach Tapovan, this makes the trek thrilling and risky. This level of this trek differs from moderate to difficult because some parts need skills and knowledge so if beginners are planning to go for this trek then the preparation should be perfect or you can try other treks before exploring Gaumukh Tapovan Trek.

The trail takes you through the lush green meadows of Tapovan, it is a trekkers’ delight and they are perfect for camping, then the changes occur in the scenery turning from green to rocky, boulder zone. But the meadows of this place are desired by the people who love trekking and camping. The settings are picturesque there are flowing streams, and blooming flowers and the refreshing aura helps in finding tranquillity.

From the base camp of Gaumukh Tapovan Trek Mt. Shivling glimmers from a distance and accompanies the summit, as you go higher the sight keeps on getting clear and magnificent. On this trek, you can get close views of snow-capped mountains and large peaks. One of the major attractions is the captivating sight of Bhagirathi’s twin peaks.

To reach Tapovan you have to traverse some beautiful places and the trek is through Gomukh which is the origin of the River Ganga, it is called Gomukh because it resembles the mouth of a cow. You can see Saints live here permanently for meditation because there is spirituality and peace, far from disturbance and issues.

Itinerary

What's Included

Accommodation – On the trek, you will live in tents/guesthouses on a sharing basis.
Meals – Breakfast, lunch, snack, and dinner. We provide simple, nutritious vegetarian food for all days of the trek.
Camping Fees – All trekking permits and forest camping fees are included in the price.
Trekking equipment – Quality tents and sleeping bags in all camps. Sleeping bags withstand temperatures down to -10 ºC.
Safety equipment – First aid kit, oximeter, etc. will be with the trek guide/leader and also at the camp to deal with emergencies.
Expert Trek Leaders – All our trek leaders have at least basic/advanced mountaineering qualifications and a first aid course.
Expert Trek Support Team – The mountain staff on this trek consists of certified guides, cooks, helpers, and porters.
Transfers – Transport from Dehradun to Gangotri on Day 1 to Gangotri to Dehradun on Day 8 is included.

Food is purchased by individuals at local canteens on the trek or while driving.
Any travel or accommodation costs for early return excluding days as per itinerary.
Any cost of medical treatment for injuries or accidents before, during or after the trek.
