Gulabi Kantha Trek – Hidden Paradise in the Garhwal Himalayas
Gulabi Kantha is a pristine paradise located in the Garhwal Himalayas at an altitude of 12,143 feet. It is an ideal trek for those who love adventure and nature. The trail is surrounded by beautiful mountains like Bandarpunch, Kalindi Sirkala, Shivalik Mountains, and Chaukhamba Peak.
Still an unexplored trail and unknown to many trekkers across the country, Gulabi Kantha leaves trekkers speechless because of its lush meadows, rolling valleys, alpine pastures, and serene snow-clad mountains. The main attraction of this trek is the rich flora and fauna along with the breathtaking sunrise and sunset views over the Himalayas.
Why Gulabi Kantha is Special
This place came to the attention of various news channels, which explored this wonderful destination with the help of local people. The beauty and potential of this place also caught the attention of the ITBP, Matli (Indo-Tibetan Border Police) team, who explored the region to evaluate whether it could be considered for winter sports like skiing.
Although this place is still not widely recognized, its true beauty lies in the huge variety of flora and fauna and the stunning views of sunrise and sunset over the great Himalayas. Along with this, the region offers many opportunities for adventure seekers and explorers.
Trek Experience
This trek is like an orchestra filled with surprises along the way. It is not easy to reach the top, but for beginners, it can be an eye-opening experience to watch the flow of mountain streams, walk among snowy mountains, and hear the echoes of the river. Every moment of the trek feels crazy and unforgettable.
The backdrop below the valley is the entrance to the imposing Rishi Gorge, once believed to be impenetrable. Gulling, Chitrakantha, and Tali camps are among the main attractions of the trek.

Itinerary
Day 1 • Dehradun to Hanuman Chatti
- Drive Distance: 172 KM, Duration: 7-8 Hours
- Altitude: 7872 ft
Highlight:
- Start early by driving through the beautiful scenery of Rishikesh towards Hanuman Chatti.
- You will come across picturesque roads, oaks, and alpine forests. It will definitely get your adrenaline pumping as you drive through nerve-wracking roads. Witness the crystal clear waters of the Yamuna.
- The water is holy and very clean and not like the ones you see in cities. The roads are very curvy so you have to be careful. Continue your journey towards Yamunotri. In the evening, tourists reach Hanuman Chatti. Walk around town and relax. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 2 • Hanuman Chatti to Seema thatch
- Trek Distance: 10 KM, Duration: 8 hours
- Altitude: 11,154 ft
Highlight:
- Start the trek early in the morning after breakfast and get ready for a walk. Today’s route will be 10 km long.
- Trekking amidst alpine forests and wildflowers gives the adventure a sense of motivation to keep walking.
- The trail has steep climbs in between. Trekkers will reach Seema Thatch in the evening and refreshments will be served. Enjoy a beautiful sunset and dinner in the evening.
Day 3 • Seema Thatch to Gulabi Kantha and back to Seema Thatch
- Trek Distance: 10 KM (both sides), Duration: 8 hours
- Altitude: 12,431 ft
Highlight:
- Today will be the most exciting day as you will trek to Gulabi Kantha from Seema. Get up early to watch the sunrise at 5:30 am before starting the trek.
- It is a 5 km trek and at 1:30 pm we will reach the destination by 1:30 pm. Lunch will be served around 14:00. Enjoy lush meadows and undulating valleys. You will gaze at the magnificent 360 panoramic views of snow-capped mountains like Bandarpunch, Shivalik, Kalindi Srikala, and Chaukhamba peak.
- After spending some time here, we will return back to the camp. Dinner will be followed by a bonfire and some music. Camping will be at Seema Thatch
Day 4 • Seema Thatch to Hanuman Chatti
- Trek Distance: 10 KM, Duration: 5 hours
- Altitude: 7872 ft
Highlight:
- Start the trek early and head towards Hanuman Chatti. The length of the route is 10 km. In between, the trekkers have refreshments and stop for a while.
- At 1 pm we will have lunch in Kandola. Then continue the trek towards Hanuman Chatti.
- The trek almost ends here. Dinner will be followed by a bonfire and music.
Day 5 • Hanuman Chatti to Dehradun
- Drive Distance: 172 KM, Duration: 7-8 Hours

It is time to say goodbye as we leave behind a lot of memories and drive towards Uttarakhand. If you wish to stay in Uttarakhand you can explore the nearby places or plan your schedule according to your convenience.
What's Included
- Accommodation – On the trek, you will live in tents/guesthouses on a sharing basis.
- Meals – Breakfast, lunch, snack, and dinner. We provide simple, nutritious vegetarian food for all days of the trek.
- Camping Fees – All trekking permits and forest camping fees are included in the price.
- Trekking equipment – Quality tents and sleeping bags in all camps. Sleeping bags withstand temperatures down to -10 ºC.
- Safety equipment – First aid kit, oximeter, etc. will be with the trek guide/leader and also at the camp to deal with emergencies.
- Expert Trek Leaders – All our trek leaders have at least basic/advanced mountaineering qualifications and a first aid course.
- Expert Trek Support Team – The mountain staff on this trek consists of certified guides, cooks, helpers, and porters.
- Transfers – Transport from Dehradun to Hauman Chatti on Day 1st to Hauman Chatti to Dehradun on Day 5th is included.

- Food is purchased by individuals at local canteens on the trek or while driving.
- Any travel or accommodation costs for early return excluding days as per itinerary.
- Any cost of medical treatment for injuries or accidents before, during or after the trek.
