The Valley of Flowers is a moderate trek, but the climb to Hemkund challenges you to the next level. In 6 km you get nearly 4,000 feet. This presents not only a new challenge but also takes you to a scenic area you didn’t expect.

Famous for its enchanting meadows and alpine flowers, the Valley of Flowers is located near Badrinath in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand. It has been a famous national park since 1982, and since July 14, 2005, it has been awarded the title of UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of the most welcoming spaces not only for residents but also for tourists. It is a space that blooms with a wide variety of flowers and a space for several rare and exotic birds. Very commonly known among tourists all over the world and is a common adventure attraction.

The Valley of Flowers is a moderate trek, but the climb to Hemkund challenges you to the next level. In 6 km you get nearly 4,000 feet. This presents not only a new challenge but also it takes you to a scenic area you didn’t expect. Hemkund Sahib lake and the surrounding mountains will amaze you. The majestic lake reflects his surroundings.

Flowers are not only a measure but also an indicator of a healthy and blooming nature. Visiting in monsoon will help you see fascinating flowers like Bramha kamal that bloom in the monsoon season.

Itinerary

Day 1Dehradun to Govindghat

  • Drive Distance: 280 km
  • Duration: 10 hours
  • Altitude: 6,300ft

Highlights:

  • Around 6:00 AM, gather at a pre-arranged location in Rishikesh and then begin the long, scenic uphill drive from Haridwar to Govindghat.
  • Pass through Devaprayag to witness the holy confluence of the Bhagirathi and Alaknanda rivers to form the Ganga River.
  • You will also pass through Joshimath which is a hub for other religious pilgrimage sites.
  • Later in the evening, stop at Govindghat for the night.

Day 2Trek from Govindghat to Ghangaria

  • Drive Distance: 4 km
  • Duration: 25 Min
  • Trek distance: 10 km
  • Trek Duration: 4 hours
  • Altitude: 9,600 ft

Highlights:

  • You will drive to a nearby town called Poolna, from where you will begin your journey to Ghangaria.
  • Take a walk along a well-defined trail that passes through the lush green forest and along the beautiful Lakshman Ganga river.
  • Along the way, come across various dhabas where you can have refreshments and refill your water bottles.
  • After completing a short gradual climb of 9 km, you will reach Ghangaria.
  • Check into your hotel and set out to explore the beautiful surroundings.

Day 3Ghangaria to Valley Of Flowers and Back to Hotel

  • Trek distance: 8 km
  • Trek Duration: 5 hours
  • Altitude: 11,500 ft

Highlights:

  • Today will be the day you climb 3,505m to reach the Valley of Flowers.
  • Climb further into the valley and you will see a number of thousands of colourful and vibrant flowers in full bloom.
  • It will be hard to leave such a heavenly view behind, but you need to start your return journey to Ghangaria in time to reach there before dark.

Day 4Ghangaria to Hemund Sahib and Back to Hotel

  • Trek distance: 12 km
  • Trek Duration: 6 hours
  • Altitude: 14,107 ft

Highlights:

  • The trek to Hemkund Sahib is a bit difficult as the path leads to a steep climb and trekking surveys may come in handy.
  • Make your way to Hemkund Sahib, a religious site where Guru Gobind Singh is said to have meditated in a past life.
  • Surrounded by seven snow-capped mountains and the crystal clear Hemkund lake just beyond, this place is undoubtedly calming and soothing.

Day 5Ghangaria to Govindghat

  • Trek distance: 10 km
  • Trek Duration: 3 hours
  • Drive Distance: 4 km
  • Duration: 25 Min
  • Altitude: 6,300 ft

Highlights:

  • After breakfast in the morning, you will start the 9 km long descent to Poolna on the same route you have been walking previously.
  • Once you reach Poolna, a taxi will take you back to Govindghat, which is 4 km away.
  • If you want, you can take a tour of the beautiful Auli in the evening.
  • Later in the evening return back to the hotel in Govindghat for an overnight stay.

Day 6Govindghat to Dehradun

  • Drive Distance: 280 km
  • Duration: 10 hours
  • Altitude: 2099 ft

Highlights:

  • Leave Govindghat early for the return journey back to Dehradun.
  • The Trekking Valley of Flowers package ends here, take back a mosaic of incredible memories

What's Included

  1. Accommodation – On the trek, you will live in tents/guesthouses on a sharing basis.
  2. Meals – Breakfast, lunch, snack, and dinner. We provide simple, nutritious vegetarian food for all days of the trek
  3. Camping Fees – All trekking permits and forest camping fees are included in the price.
  4. Trekking equipment – ​​Quality tents and sleeping bags in all camps. Sleeping bags withstand temperatures down to -10 ºC.
  5. Safety equipment – ​​First aid kit, oximeter, etc. will be with the trek guide/leader and also at the camp to deal with emergencies
  6. Expert Trek Leaders – All our trek leaders have at least basic/advanced mountaineering qualifications and a first aid course.
  7. Expert Trek Support Team – The mountain staff on this trek consists of certified guides, cooks, helpers, and porters.
  8. Transfers – Transport from Dehradun to Govindghat on Day 1st to Govindghat to Dehradun on Day 6th is included.
