Badrinath is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It is situated in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand along the banks of Alaknanda River at a height of about 3100m. The temple is part of both Chard Dham and Chota Char Dham pilgrimage sites.

It is believed that Badrinath Dham was built in the eighth century by Adi Guru Shankaracharya. Also, it is stated that head priest (Rawal) of this temple can only be from the state of South India’s Kerala
